Getting to the Gili Islands is way much of fun if you go with fast boat. You can see dolphins swims if you lucky. Plus you can enjoy the waves. Other way for getting to Gili Islands is by plane, but you won’t able to see dolphins swims.
How to Get to Gili Islands
Plane is the safest way to go to Lombok and Gili Islands. You can take plane from Ngurah Rai airport in Bali to Lombok. If you want to continue your trip to Gili Islands (either Gili Trawangan, Gili Air, or Gili Meno), you must take local boats which cost around IDR 100,000.
By Fast Boat
Fast boat is the only way to reach Gili Islands from Bali without change of transportation. There are several Bali – Gili transfers carrier that you can use.

From Benoa and Serangan Harbor (South Bali)
There are five accredited fast boats traveling from this point and vice versa – Blue Waters Express, Super Scoot, Mahi Mahi, Narooma and Marina Srikandi Blue Beach Express. You can take a boat on any of these scheduled trips – 8:00 am, 8:30 am, 9:00 am or 9:30 am. Adult rate (one-way) is between IDR 500 to IDR 700. Adult rate (return) is between IDR 950 and IDR 1,300. Child rate (one way) is between IDR 300 and IDR 600. Child rate (return) is between IDR 600 and IDR 1,100.
From Padang Bai Harbor (East Bali)
Five fast boats travel from this point and vice versa – Gili Cat Island Express, Gili Gili, Wahana Gili, Eka Jaya and Ocean Star Express. Daily trips start at 8:30 am until 1:00 pm. Some of these boat operators, such as Gili Cat, Ocean Star Express and Eka Jaya, travel twice daily using two alternating boats. Adult rate (one-way) is between IDR 475 to IDR 750. Adult rate (return) is between IDR 900 and IDR 1,400. Child rate (one-way) is between IDR 275 and IDR 550. Child rate (return) is between IDR 550 and IDR 1,000.
From Amed (North-East Bali)
The only fast boat operator from Amed to Gili is Kuda Hitam. Kuda Hitam offer daily trips from Amed (Jemeluk Beach) to Gili and vice versa in daily basis. The boat departs at 8:30 am daily. Adult rate (one-way) is IDR 550 while adult rate (return) is IDR 1,000. Child rate usually falls from 20% to 50% of adult rate depending on the child’s age.
From Sanur to Nusa Lembongan
Scoot Cruises and Rocky Fast Cruises both operate daily from Bali to Nusa Lembongan island and vice versa. Rocky Fast Cruises departs from Sanur at 10:00 am, 2:00 pm and 4:30 pm. During high season, a 12:00 pm trip is added to accommodate high volume of passengers. Adult rate (one-way) is IDR 250 and IDR 450 (return). Student rate is IDR 200 for one way and IDR 370 for return. Child rate (5 – 11 y.o.) is IDR 140 for one way and IDR 250 for return. Scoot Cruises departs at 9:30 am, 11:30 am, 1:30 pm and 4:00 pm. Adult rate (one way) is IDR 300 and IDR 500 (return). Student rate (13 – 16 y.o.) is IDR 250 (one way) and IDR 420 (return). Child rate (3 – 12 y.o.) is IDR 220 (one way) and IDR 340 (two- way).
By Charter Boat
Charter boats are also available for those who want to enjoy sailing for a day or for those who prefer to travel fast and in private. Some of the most popular private charters are The Azura, which can accommodate up to eight passengers and The MV Glen Eagle, which can carry a maximum of 50 passengers on-board. Available package for charter trips may include picnic with champagne, deep sea fishing and snorkeling. However, this may be costly so a fast boat to Gili Islands is a way to go for a budget-conscious vacation.
There are many boat to Lombok and Gili Islands, one of the famous and have the best services is BlueWater Express. BlueWater Express is the pioneer of fast boat from Bali to Gili Trawangan and Lombok. She usually departs to Gili Trawangan and Lombok from Serangan Harbor at 08.00 and 10.00. Recently, she also departs from Padang Bai Harbor at 11.00.
BlueWater Express price is Rp 690,000 for one way trip and Rp 1,300,000 for return trip. It takes about 2 hours for getting to Gili Trawangan and Lombok from Serangan Harbor. If you go from Padang Bai Harbor, it will only takes 1 hour to go to Gili Trawangan and Lombok, Indonesia.
Gili Cat is another top fast boat operator from Bali to Gili Trawangan and Lombok. Gili Cat fast boat is Australian design, full with safety equipments like radar, GPS, life-raft (capsule), and fire extinguisher. They departs daily from Padang Bai harbor at 08.15 and 08.45 on regular season. An additional departure at 13.00 and 13.30 will be opened on high season.
